Application

Three months. One shelter. A record that checks out.

Vinctura places volunteers on a regular shift at a State College shelter for a full season, and issues a record of those hours that an admissions office or an employer can verify without contacting us.

01 · The work

A shift you hold.

Shifts run alongside an established local shelter in Centre County — meals, laundry and showers, and the check-in desk. We name a partner organisation here only once they have agreed in writing to be named.

02 · The record

Forty hours, verifiable.

Hours are logged at sign-in by the shift lead, on paper, the same day — never self-reported. Forty verified hours across a season earns a record at a permanent public address anyone can check. It is not a licence or an academic qualification, and it does not claim to be.

03 · The standard

Three months, minimum.

A regular shift block you hold, not a rota you dip into. There is no open signup, and every application is read by a founding member and answered personally within ten days. If you want a single afternoon, we are the wrong door — and we will say so plainly. Go directly to a local organisation that needs hands this week.

Not sure yet? Read what a season actually looks like before you apply.

This is the name that will be printed and permanently recorded.

Members commit to a season. Shorter terms are genuinely welcome — through our partner, directly.

Before you send this. Guests of a shelter are not content. Members do not photograph, name, or describe anyone receiving services, on any channel including personal accounts. Hours are recorded at sign-in and kept as a permanent record. Read the full policy.
